Hands‑On Experience
Automation Engineer Intern (Presidential Internship – SUNY Canton IT)
Developing Ansible playbooks and Semaphore workflows to automate the deployment and hardening of virtual machines on Proxmox. Implemented CIS benchmark scans to establish baseline security scores, applied hardening aligned with SUNY Canton policies, and validated improvements through post-hardening CIS scans.
Homelab & Self-Hosted Infrastructure
Designed and maintained a personal homelab using Raspberry Pi and repurposed laptops as servers. Deployed containerized services using Docker and Portainer, including personal websites, automation services, monitoring tools, and databases. Implemented strict firewall policies, SSH key-based authentication, network isolation, and secure access via Cloudflare Tunnels with access controls and rate limiting.
Cloud & Offensive Security Practice
Deployed and secured Linux virtual machines in Oracle Cloud with both public and private networking configurations. Practiced vulnerability discovery, enumeration, and incident response through platforms such as Hack The Box and TryHackMe, using tools including Nmap, Gobuster, and Wireshark.
IT Support & Technology Management (Ogdensburg Free Academy)
Worked with the school district IT staff to manage technology across multiple schools, supporting classroom technology and staff/student devices. Held a leadership role in the Audio Visual club, guiding students and coordinating technical operations for events.
Projects
- Automated VM Hardening & CIS Benchmarking: Automation-focused security project using Ansible and Semaphore to deploy virtual machines on Proxmox, perform CIS benchmark scans, apply security hardening, and validate improvements against institutional security policies.
- Self-Hosted Vaultwarden Password Manager: Deployed and secured a self-hosted Vaultwarden instance using Docker and Portainer. Integrated Cloudflare Tunnels for secure remote access without exposing inbound ports, providing a private and controlled password management solution.
- Secure Homelab Infrastructure: Built a secure homelab environment with default-deny firewall policies, SSH key-based authentication, container isolation, reverse proxying, and rate limiting to minimize attack surface while maintaining usability.
Certifications
In Progress: CompTIA ITF+, CompTIA Security+
